What Supplements Do I Need For Muscle Growth?

Taking certain nutritional supplements for muscle building is not absolutely necessary; you can do without them, however, some of them really do have their advantages. They can give you an added physical and mental edge.
They help to enhance performance and can help in the muscle-building process. Although some are a waste of your time money and effort, there are a few that do actually perform.
Supplements help to fulfil the missing link that may occur during an intense muscle-building phase.
You do need some supplements for greater muscle growth.

Here are the supplements I'd recommend for Muscle-building.

Creatine:
A great supplement that always produces positive health and muscle-building benefits. Helps to fill the muscles with fluid making you stronger and able to lift heavier and recover faster.
Good bodyweight gains achieved with this, which allows you to lift more for better muscle growth stimulation.

Protein Powders:
Whey protein isolate is the best fast acting protein to aid in repair and growth of muscle tissue after an intense training session.
Casein Protein is a slow digesting protein best taken just before bed to supply the body with a continuous flow of amino acids for repair and growth through the night while you sleep.

Weight Gainers:
A high calorie supplement is a good idea if you consider yourself as being under weight. High calories are needed for muscle endurance and optimum performance and effective muscle repair.

You'll want to stay healthy while you're on a muscle-building quest so I'd also recommend:

A good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement:
To offset any nutrient deficits that may occur during an intense training program. Vitamins and minerals are essential for good health and well being.

Vitamin C:
A great immunity booster and free radical destroyer.

Vitamin E:
Great for Cell integrity and vitality.

EFAs:
Essential Fatty Acids:
Great for overall health and helps promote the body's production of Testosterone - the muscle builder.

Note: You should always check with your GP or other health professional before taking any nutritional supplements.

Along with the supplements there are other elements that you need for muscle-growth:

A sound workout routine that induces muscle growth and does not over-train the muscles.
A good healthy high calorie diet. Eat six smaller meals instead of 3 large meals.
Sufficient rest and recovery time. Your muscles have to be fully recovered.
Discipline Commitment and Consistency.
A few supplements like the above.

The bodybuilding supplement industry is big business. You really don't need all those "miracle" muscle-building supplements that come onto the market, but once in a while they do actually bring about a supplement that actually does what it's reported to do.

Men and Sperm Health

Men - What You Do On A Daily Basis Affects Your Sperm Maturation Process

While a woman is born with all the eggs she'll ever have, men produce sperm on a continual basis. Therefore, what a man does on a daily basis can affect the sperm maturation process.

Smoking, drinking, drugs, stress, poor nutrition and lack of exercise all can contribute to poor sperm quality. And, it was recently discovered, a man's sperm quality begins to decline around the age of 25.

There are five main factors that contribute to overall sperm quality. They include sperm motility, speed, count, concentration and morphology (shape and size).

A weakness in any of these areas can affect the chances of conception.

Motility

Sperm motility is a term that describes sperm's ability to move in an active fashion: in other words, are the sperm "strong swimmers?" In healthy sperm, typically more than 50% are active with over 25% moving forcefully in one direction. Motility enables the sperm to travel through the cervical canal, into the uterus and the fallopian tubes and, finally, to penetrate the egg.

Speed

The forward movement of sperm called progressive motility, forward progression or rapid linear progression. There are also several different ways to classify forward movement.

According to the World Health Organization (1999), in a healthy male, greater than 25% of sperm will exhibit progressive motility. It is thought that these are the sperm with the best chance of successfully fertilizing an egg.

Rapid linear progression showed a greater than 60 % improvement after four months of treatment with acupuncture, herbal medicine and supplements.

Sperm Count

Sperm count refers to the number of sperm in the fluid that is ejaculated (semen). There are over 40 million sperm in a normal ejaculate. A total count below 40 million may indicate decreased fertility. With the Berkley Center's unique protocol of acupuncture, herbal medicine and supplements, count increased more than 14 % after four months of treatment.

Concentration

Concentration is a measure of the number of sperm cells in a milliliter of semen. Normal concentration is at least 20 million sperm cells per milliliter of semen. With the Berkley Center's unique protocol combining acupuncture, herbal medicine and the appropriate supplements, concentration improved after four months of treatment.

Morphology (shape and size)

A healthy sperm cell will have a shape similar to a tadpole. The sperm's oval head contains the genetic material, the center provides energy and the tail propels the sperm forward.

Using the strict criteria put forth by the World Health Organization (1999), studies of Assisted Reproductive Technology programs show lower pregnancy rates with less than 15% normal forms. Furthermore, experts believe that abnormally shaped sperm cannot fertilize an egg.

Subfertility

The term, subfertility, refers to couples that are unable to achieve conception after a year of unprotected intercourse (or 6 months if the woman is over age 35). It is different from infertility. A subfertile couple merely has lower odds of conceiving during any given month than fertile couples.

Statistics at a glance

* Human reproduction is surprisingly inefficient and quite complex -- the likelihood of pregnancy within any given month is believed to be only 25 percent among fertile couples.

* 1 out of 12 couples have subfertility.

* Male-related factors account for 40 percent of subfertility. Female-related factors account for another 40 percent and a combination of male- and female-related factors account for about 20 percent.

* About 90% of all subfertility can be traced to specific causes that can be treated.

Typical causes of male subfertility

* Sperm production problems

* Blockages in the sperm's delivery system

* Injuries to the testicles

* Low or high hormone production

* Anatomical problems

* Varicocele (varicose veins around the testicle)

* Past illnesses/infections/various diseases

* Certain medications

Sperm quality

Sperm quality is a contributing factor for 40 percent of couples experiencing infertility. There are five main factors that contribute to sperm quality:

* Motility: The ability to move in an active fashion. In healthy sperm, typically more than 50% are active with over 25% moving forcefully in one direction. Motility is what enables a sperm to travel up the cervical canal, into the uterus and the fallopian tubes and, finally, penetrate the egg.

* Speed: Progressive motility. In a healthy male, greater than 25% of sperm will exhibit progressive motility. It is thought that these are the sperm with the best chance of successfully fertilizing an egg.

* Count: The number of sperm in the fluid that is ejaculated (semen). There are over 40 million sperm in a normal ejaculate. A total count below 40 million may indicate decreased fertility.

* Concentration: A measure of the number of sperm cells in a milliliter of semen. Normal concentration is at least 20 million sperm cells per milliliter of semen.

* Morphology: The shape and size of the sperm. A healthy sperm cell will have a shape similar to a tadpole. The sperm's oval head contains the genetic material, the center provides energy and the tail propels the sperm forward.

Using the strict criteria put forth by the World Health Organization (1999), studies show lower pregnancy rates with less than 15% normal forms. Furthermore, experts believe that abnormally shaped sperm cannot fertilize an egg.

Motility, speed and morphology appear to be the most important factors to assess the fertilizing capability of sperm. Despite a low sperm count, many men with high-quality (viable and highly mobile) sperm may still be fertile.

By combining acupuncture, herbal medicine and supplements we have been able to effectively enhance and improve the quality of sperm. Not only do the count, morphology and motility improve but sperm fragmentation is often successfully treated.

Another excellent application of the Berkley Center's protocol is varicocelectomy recovery. One of the causes of lack of improvement in sperm quality and count after a varicocelectomy is due to a lack of blood flow to the testicles. The proper application of acupuncture, herbal medicine and supplements has been shown to successfully enhance blood flow to the testicles and facilitate healing and significant improvement after varicocelectomy.

6 Important Steps to Beginning an Exercise Program

Beginning an exercise program can be daunting for anyone. If you’ve never started a program then it can be even more intimidating. Here are 6 tips that will help you to begin your program and stick with it.

1. Before you begin an exercise program, when you have been sedentary, it is very wise to have a medical check up. Diabetes, coronary artery disease and high blood pressure are silent. Joint pains can have multiple sources – some lend themselves to exercise and others get worse with exercise.

2. As a beginner you should spend a bit of time investigating the type of program that interests you. Starting a program you enjoy increases your chances of maintaining the program. Start slow and small increasing your intensity and time each week.

3. Don’t be discouraged by your progress! Depending upon the program you choose there could be a steep learning curve (step aerobics) or you may need to increase your muscle strength and stamina (running). It’s easy to become discouraged early in a program. Remember that you are exercising for the long term.

4. When you begin a program spend some time learning the correct techniques. Even if you are doing something you consider second nature – like running or walking – be sure you use the correct techniques. Read about the sport specific stretches that are necessary to prevent injury and improve performance. Understand the techniques for lifting or step aerobics in order decrease your probability of injury.

5. Set goals. Setting goals will help you to stay motivated and on target. Be sure to be realistic with your goals and to be flexible. If you get sick or injured you can’t maintain the same intensity and reach your goals in the same amount of time. Listen to your body when it needs rest but push yourself at the same time to achieve your goals.

6. Use an exercise diary. It doesn’t matter that the diary is high tech or that it even was sold as a diary. You can use a three ring binder or notebook to record your exercise. Using a diary increases your chances of continuing the program, increases your motivation and points out problems with the program so that you can correct the errors. Include the time of day, type of exercise, duration of exercise and how you felt before, during and after.

Using these six tips to begin your exercise program will increase your chances of success and you’ll begin to see the benefits of increased physical activity

How To Boost Your Metabolism

If you want to learn how to boost your metabolism you must first understand that the idea of just eating super foods is not the only way to burn fat and boost metabolism. The fact of the matter is that a single-food diet is not good for the body and it really won't help boost your metabolism. There is, however, a certain level of truth in the notion that grapefruit, celery and other super foods can help with weight loss and metabolic rate boosting.

While medical science has failed to substantiate the grapefruit or celery diets, it has known for a very long time that these foods are good inclusions in a healthy diet. They also tend to be rather low in calories. Celery is even quite high in fiber, which can help reinforce the body to burn more calories during it’s digestion.

So, what does this mean to you if you're looking to boost your metabolism? It's fairly simple. Celery and grapefruit alone won't really help you kick start your calorie-burning machine, but it would be smart to include them in an overall program.

Before you rush out and buy every grapefruit at your local grocery store, stop, breathe and put an emphasis on that "overall program." The best way to really tweak your metabolism is to consider your health all the time. To really make it work as you'd like, or closer to it, you need to:

Eat smarter - While it's impossible to change your metabolism, it is feasible to massage it a bit. This can be achieved by eating smarter. Consider more frequent, smaller portions throughout the day. Little meals every four to six hours can really help here. By all means include grapefruit, celery and other super foods, but don't forget that "healthy" means healthy balance.

Move - This four-letter word goes a long way when metabolic boosting is desired. To really kick-start your metabolism, you have to move. Get up, exercise, clean the house, garden, play with the kids – just do something! The more you move, the harder your metabolism has to work.

Build muscle - The more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn on a daily basis. Building lean muscle mass is key to boosting metabolism. This doesn't mean you need to make yourself look like a weight lifter, but toning and shaping up can very much help you along toward your goal.

Boosting your metabolism with "super foods" is possible, but not in the way many diet plans tout. Eating nothing but a certain fruit, vegetable or meat will end up hurting you in the long run. Consider a smarter path by looking at the overall, big picture. There is something to super foods, but they alone will not provide the permanent results you desire when looking for the best ways on how to boost your metabolism.

Probiotics may have some benefits for kids

Probiotics may have some benefits for kids

A leading medical group says there's some evidence that probiotics, or "good" bacteria, may have limited benefits for certain illnesses in children.

But the group says the science isn't yet strong enough to advocate infant formulas containing probiotics. And probiotics shouldn't be given to children who are seriously ill.

That's according to a new American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP) report published Monday (Nov.29,2010) in the journal, Pediatrics.

About 500 different bacteria live naturally in a healthy human's intestinal tract, and there's a growing understanding of the role they play in health. For years, companies have been making claims that their probiotic pills, yogurts, milks and juices help digestive health and the immune system.

The new report summarizes findings from high-quality scientific studies on some of the active ingredients in the products. The report says probiotics taken early during diarrhea from a viral infection may shorten the illness in otherwise healthy children.

And probiotics also may prevent diarrhea in children who are taking antibiotics, which can sometimes cause the condition.

On the other hand, more evidence is needed before AAP can recommend probiotics for constipation, irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn's disease. And there's not enough evidence for recommending probiotics in pregnant women or infants to prevent eczema or asthma.

Future research may find more benefits, the report says. And "prebiotics," which contain fiber and other nutrients that feed probiotic bacteria, also may someday prove helpful.

One warning: Children with compromised immune systems or who use intravenous catheters should not receive probiotics because serious infections have been reported.

The bacteria in the products are only helpful if they're alive, which isn't always the case.

"Consumers should keep in mind that a large percentage of organisms in a probiotic supplement may die before the product is even purchased and labels can be misleading or incorrect," said Dr. Tod Cooperman, president of ConsumerLab.com, which tests products and reports on their quality.

The company tested probiotic supplements last year. Two children's probiotics contained only 7 percent and 21 percent of the listed amounts. Cooperman suggested that products be stored in sealed containers out of heat, light and humidity. He said it's best to refrigerate them.

Vitamins And Minerals For Optimal Health

Health is a major concern in the United States, from vitamins and minerals, to the proper nutrition and intake, it is hard to get the proper amount of nutrition you need everyday from just the regular foods you intake.

Vitamins and minerals are naturally occurring substances necessary for many processes in the body. Vitamins and minerals are substances your body needs in small but steady amounts for normal growth, function and health. They are necessary for virtually all reactions to occur in the body.

Vitamins and minerals are in many foods you eat, but you can also take a supplement to make sure you get all the nutrients you need. Vitamins and minerals are not present in typical diet we eat at the level they were a couple of generations ago.

Vitamins and minerals are used by our bodies and if we do not get enough of the right ones it can affect us mentally and physically. Vitamins and minerals are two completely different things: minerals help the vitamins work. Vitamins and minerals are considered necessary because they may partake in the chemical reactions within the body that allow humans to actually burn the fuels or build new tissues.

Supplements

Dietary supplements aren't meant to be food substitutes, as they can't replicate all of the nutrients and benefits of whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables. But dietary supplements can still play a role in your health by complementing your regular diet if you have trouble getting enough nutrients. If you depend on dietary supplements rather than eating a variety of whole foods, you miss the benefits of these substances. Although for some people, including those on restrictive diets, dietary supplements can provide vitamins and minerals that their diets often don't.

Dietary supplements can lose potency over time, especially in hot and humid climates. Store dietary supplements in a dry, cool place. Also, store supplements out of sight and away from children.

Health

Your body needs larger amounts of some minerals, such as calcium, to grow and stay healthy. Vitamin C is used to keep many different types of tissue healthy. Calcium along with vitamin D helps to keep your bones healthy. Vitamin E : its usefulness in health and in curing diseases. Even for those who eat a healthy diet, there appears to be difficulty in obtain enough folic acid.

Scientists and researchers know the roles the following vitamins and minerals play in our bodies, and this group may have heart–healthy effects:Three of the B–vitamins: vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folic acid. Calcium Magnesium Another group of supplements, the antioxidants are still being tested at this time for their benefits in heart disease and cancer prevention.

Nutrients

Your body can't make most micronutrients, so you must get them from the foods you eat or, in some cases, from dietary supplements. A lack of any of the essential micronutrients from the diet may lead to deficiencies, compromising the ability to function and impairing health. These nutrients are needed for a variety of biological processes, among them growth, digestion and nerve function. These nutrients are the main components in your teeth and bones, and they serve as building blocks for other cells and enzymes. Many people don't receive all of the nutrients they need from their diet because they either can't or don't eat enough, or they can't or don't eat a variety of healthy foods.

Supplements can be an inexpensive way to make sure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need, even if you get most of them from the foods you eat. It may be important for you to take certain amounts of some vitamins and minerals in the form of supplements. Vitamins and minerals are vital for human function, each one playing a different role. Vitamins and minerals are essential to our survival. They are generally considered to be the most important aspect of maintaining optimal health.

Gaining Weight

I used to live in sunny Southern Florida. The weather there was ideal for staying in shape. I loved the heat and humidity, so I was always outside doing something. I was a tennis fanatic. I would play every day if possible. It is a great sport for burning calories. In addition, where I played tennis there was also a fitness center. I was in pretty good shape.

Then we had to move to North Carolina because of a job opportunity. We had to move in the middle of winter. What a shock for this body which had never lived north of 1-10. It seemed like I gained 10 pounds instantly. Suddenly I was not playing tennis everyday. I no longer had a fitness center readily available. And I was depressed about the move. What a combination! I knew I should immediately do something to change this pattern of weight gain.

Here it is almost two years later. I still have that 10 pounds. At least I have not gained more. I also have to take into consideration that I am post menopausal. It is much harder to lose weight at this age. Another factor now hindering weight loss is that I have started a business, in addition to my regular job. Unfortunately my job requires me to sit at a desk. Most of my past jobs allowed me to move around more. My own business is a home based business done on the computer. This means additional hours each day and on weekends just sitting.

I started a second website on health and fitness. This has made me more aware that I need to get moving. Here is my plan. Hopefully it will work for me and YOU.

The first step is to eliminate most sweets from my diet. This is tough. I have the world's biggest sweet tooth. I need to substitute veggies and fruit for the sweets. The simple solution would be not be buy any sweets. My mind knows that. I doubt if I can go totally "cold turkey", so I will allow for a treat once in awhile. This allows you to not feel totally deprived.

I already eat lots of fruit and veggies, so that part of my diet is good. For a lot of people, finding acceptable snacks is their main problem. You must have the good snacks on hand

and rid your house of the bad snacks. I could not have any chocolate in the house and if I felt the urge, I would have to walk to the store to get some. Isn't that a good idea? At least I would burn off some calories walking to the store. Also I might decide that I was too busy and go without the chocolate.

The other thing I have to do is exercise more. It is so easy to get out of shape and so hard to get back in. If you have a friend that is in the same position as you, get her to exercise with you. It is easier if you have a work-out buddy. I need to force myself to start walking more. I am not much of a runner, but walking is a great exercise. Winter is here and all I have to do is bundle up and get out and walk.

Be aware of one thing. The longer you wait to make changes to your diet and exercise, the harder it will be. Time seems to fly by. Don't be like me and discover two years from now that you still are carrying around that extra weight. Do what I am doing finally. I have made up my mind to get back in shape. How can I be webmaster of a health and fitness site if I am out of shape? That is my motivation. Contact me at my website and see how I am doing.

Laser Hair Removal - Enjoy the Advantages of this Procedure

For some women, excess hair is no big deal. However, others want to get rid of it as soon as it grows out.

It can be really tiring to have to worry about how you’re going to remove strands from your body. If you no longer want to deal with this annoying and time-consuming process, then you should really look into the benefits of laser hair removal.

No more shaving Wanting to have soft, touchable skin is virtually impossible when it’s covered in hair. Most women have to get out a razor and shave each day in order to keep skin soft. This can take up precious time each morning, not to mention you risk getting scrapes and cuts. Laser hair removal is a great solution that will eliminate that annoying problem and allow you to enjoy smooth skin without worrying about shaving.

In addition, if you’re not someone that shaved, but instead got waxed or used depilatory, you’ll finally be free from such torture. Waxing can literally bring tears to your eyes because of the pain. Some women swear by it, but others cannot endure having their strands ripped out from the root. Furthermore, depilatories can be extremely messy, smelly and ineffective. So to be free of such issues, it’s a good idea to look into laser hair removal.

Avoid embarrassing stubble If you’re someone that has lots of dark, course hair, then it you most likely have to shave daily in order to minimize stubble. And for some, even it your do shave, you still can see the dark coloring of the follicle. This is not only embarrassing on your legs, it can be really embarrassing if it’s on your face where people look first. By getting laser hair removal, you can say good bye to stubble and won’t have to worry about feeling self-conscious when someone gets close to you.

Save money Some people will do whatever it takes to have strand-free skin. This can mean paying regularly to get waxed or maybe stocking up on razors, shaving cream, depilatories and more. Although it may not seem like much, after a year’s time, these small costs can add up. And if you’re someone that wants to get rid of strands over the entire body, then your fees will be even more expensive. By getting laser hair removal, you will eventually pay a higher fee upfront, but over time, you won’t have to worry about shaving anymore, which will help keep money in your pocket.

Enjoy smooth skin When the hair is eliminated from the root, all that’s left is soft skin. You won’t experience stubble because there’s nothing growing out of the follicle. For those that do experience growth, usually the strands are finer and smoother. And to keep the strands from coming back, it’s good to just get the procedure done on a maintenance basis to help keep the skin soft and smooth. In addition to legs, many people strive to have smooth skin under the arms, upper lip and bikini area. Getting laser hair removal can allow you to enjoy satiny smooth skin for years to come.

How Do You Find a Doctor: Tips for Finding the Right Medical Practitioner

There are a number of situations where a healthcare consumer may need to find a doctor. You may need to start searching for a medical professional if you have recently moved to a new town or city. Another time you may be looking for a different provider is when you are no longer satisfied with the care you are receiving from your doctor.

Your doctor may have moved or retired, which has left you in a situation where you need to find a new physician. You may have recently signed up for a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan and you need to designate one doctor as your primary care physician under the plan.

The decision of which doctor to see for your medical needs is not something that you should be taking lightly. Ideally, you want to find someone who will take the time to get to know you and act as an advisor about preventive care as well as look after any acute medical needs you may have.

There are times when your healthcare needs are such that you need to find a specialist to deal with a particular concern. At those times, you need to find a doctor who has the expertise to prescribe appropriate medical care. You also need to be seen by a medical professional who realizes that you are more than just a group of symptoms.

Your medical concerns are part of the equation, but they need to be seen in the context that they are happening to a whole person. The type of work you do, your family structure, what you like to do in your spare time and other lifestyle considerations also factor in when you need medical care. A skilled physician will take the time to ask you questions about all of you, not just the issue that brought you into the office that day.

When you need to establish a relationship with a medical provider, you have a few options available to you. One of them is to ask friends or family members for a referral. Chances are good that if someone you know is pleased with the level of care they are receiving from a doctor that you would have a positive relationship with that provider as well.

In a case where your current medical provider is moving or retiring, you can ask for a referral to another physician. There may be another doctor coming in to take over your physician's practice, and you could ask that the new person take over your file and your care directly.

Not everyone who is looking for a doctor will be able to find someone using these methods. When you need to get medical care but haven't been successful at finding a doctor by word of mouth, you do have the option of going online to find someone who is qualified to manage your care.

If you choose this option, make sure that you check out a website that doesn't simply list doctors in your area. Anyone can compile a list of names, and you would have just as good a chance of finding a good doctor using this method as if you had checked your local Yellow Pages to find someone.

Your best bet to find a doctor online is to find a web site that not only provides a list of names, but can also give you some assurance that the medical professionals who have been included on the web site are committed to providing a high degree of care to their patients.

Does Stress Cause Hair Loss?

Yes, stress can definitely cause a person to lose their hair! However, it is important to note that the type of stress we are referring to in this article is not the everyday stress experience that most of us go through. In terms of hair loss, the type of stress that causes this condition is the result of sudden emotional shock or a very disastrous physical accident.

This type of hair loss is known as “telogen effluvium”. When an extremely stressful incident occurs, what happens is that the hair follicles that are actively growing are suddenly shifted forward into the “regression phase”. Soon after, the follicles then begin the “resting phase” and when the growth cycle of a hair follicle reaches this resting place, it falls out rather easily.

How soon after a stressful event does person's hair begin to fall out?

When a person goes through a physiological or an emotional event, hair does not begin to fall out anywhere from a few weeks to a few months after the event. But once it has begun, hair loss continues at a fast pace.

And because it takes some time for their hair to start shedding after the stressful event, the person is usually not aware that it is related to that past experience. It never occurs to them that the hair loss they are experiencing is not because of a new “sickness” or anything of the sort, it is simply the aftermath side effect of the stress they went through a few weeks or a few months ago.

What are some examples of severe stressful situations that would cause hair loss?

As we stated earlier, “stress” in terms of hair loss does not mean the standard stress most people experience from work, financial, relationships, etc. Instead, occurrences such as going through the sudden death of a loved one would be an example of a stressful situation that could result in hair loss. Getting a divorce would be another example. Having to take care of someone close to you who has a terminal disease may also fall into this category.

And of course, physical experiences that cause a lot of damage to a person's body will also produce stress at such high levels that hair loss is an eventual side effect. For example,a heart attack or a major surgery may cause a person's hair to fall out. Sickness that keeps a person in a long period of deterioration, such as the flu or malaria, may cause hair loss. And also, accidents such as vehicle crashes or any other similar situation where the body undergoes sudden physical damage, may cause hair loss.

Decisive Weight Loss

Making a decision is a powerful process towards achieving something. By not making a firm decision you are just floating around the edges of any goal that you want to achieve. Too many people that want to lose weight approach it in an indecisive way. They may say things like:

I should try to lose weight,
I’ll try to cut down on bad food,
Maybe I should start exercising,
I could join a gym,
Perhaps I’ll try that new diet,
I’ll start in a few weeks,

None of the above are decisions, they are just fleeting thoughts or at best weak intentions, and frankly they will not get you anywhere. Making a firm decision can be very empowering because you are making a commitment. Try this for yourself:

Say to yourself ‘I suppose I should lose some weight’ and notice what happens in your mind. You may find that other thoughts attach themselves to what you have said. These thoughts may go along the lines of:

It’ll be too hard,
I don’t have the time right now,
I’ve always failed in the past,
I don’t think I have the willpower,
I can’t be bothered at the moment,

Once these thoughts have grouped together you will drop the idea of losing weight like a hot potato, although you may retain some guilt in the back of your mind for giving up so easily.

Now say to yourself ‘I AM going to lose weight’ and say it with some force and conviction. Now what do you notice in your mind? You may find that saying it that way makes the thought feel stronger. The negative thoughts that you had earlier seem weaker, they are probably still there but seem more distant. This happens because when you make a decision you are giving a direct order to your mind, and your mind has a firm instruction to follow instead of some vague thought or half hearted wish.

The next step is to write out 2 plans, plan A which is based on a decision that you will lose weight, and plan B which is based on a decision not to lose weight. You need to write out what each plan will offer you. Write out your own plans based on the example below.

Plan A

More Energy ,
Improved Health,
Higher Self Confidence,
Higher Self Esteem,
Feel and Look More Attractive,
Feel Happier about Yourself,

Plan B

Less Energy
Increasing Health Problems
Low Self Confidence
Low Self Esteem
Poorer Self Image
Feelings of Anxiety or Depression

Make your lists as long as possible and then imagine were you will be in 1, 3, and 5 year’s time with whichever plan that you decide to follow. Picture how you will look and feel in the future with whatever plan you choose.

Keep in mind that both plans are progressive, meaning that both plans will evolve and not stand still. Follow plan A and the benefits will increase. You’ll become more energetic, your health will continue to improve, your self confidence and self esteem will snowball. The fact is that the more you do of something, the better you will get at it and the easier it will become.

If you follow plan B you will not be in the same position that you are in now. Plan B will also evolve, your energy will continue to decrease, your health will get worse and you often find that one health problem leads to another and another. Your self confidence and self esteem will continue to drop.

Hair Styles That Can Help Cover Up Hair Loss

When it comes to feeling better about losing your hair, sometimes all it may take is a simple hairstyle to drastically improve your appearance. In addition, a well-cut style can go a long way in terms of rebuilding your self confidence. Your goal should get the right style that you are after, while at the same time having the perfect cut that accentuates the shape of your head.

When it comes to hair style for a person who is going bald, there are a few techniques that can be utilized. Such examples may be camouflaging certain parts of the scalp with existing hair or cutting other areas of the hair shorter which can remove the appearance of thinning.

Stay Away From Those Cheesy Comb Overs!

Have you ever seen a person with a “comb over”? It never really looks good, does it? You may attempt to use this hair styling technique, but it is best to try a shorter haircut or attempt to camouflage your hair loss only if the area of hair that is balding is small. If your bald spot is large and growing, then a comb-over will only attract more attention to the fact that you are losing your hair.

Permanent Waves

This is another styling technique that are called “perms”. A permanent wave basically makes your existing hair super curly. This is done by wrapping the hair that you already have around tiny little rods which are then treated with chemicals. When finished, the hair will be loosely curled or very tightly managed, depending on the perm style you chose.

Once the chemical treatment is rinsed out, a person's hair that has undergone a permanent wave will maintain the shape of these curls. This hairstyle gives the illusion of thicker and more dense hair growth and is great for people who are experiencing small patches of baldness throughout their scalp. The density of the permanent wave will help hide the thinning areas underneath the curly rods of hair that hang on top.

Although the permanent wave style sounds like a very reasonable solution, and it is, there is a downside. Eventually, the hair that is still active will grow straight from the roots and using chemical treatments must be done on a regular basis to keep up the illusion of density with the curls. Because of these chemicals, the hair that remains can be weakened and the person's scalp can suffer from mild irritation.

Ultrasonic Liposuction - What You Should Expect

Wanting to reduce body fat and get a more toned look can be difficult. Even with exercise and a good diet, you may need extra help in getting the weight off.

For some people, a few weeks of light workouts and a more health-conscious diet is enough to shed those excess pounds. Yet, for some, removing fat from trouble spots can seem next to impossible. If you want to really lose weight in a hurry, ultrasonic liposuction may be the answer.

What is it When choosing to remove fat using this method, the doctor will use ultrasound waves that produce heat to help with fat removal in the area. While the traditional fat-removing methods can work well on a host of people, some folks have areas, such as the back, that may not respond as well to common procedures. Ultrasonic liposuction allows fat to be removed yet the skin will look better and be smoother. That’s because during this process, the fat turns into a liquid form and therefore it’s easier to draw out from the region. Once done, you can enjoy a smaller mid-section, less flabby back, tighter arms and more.

Benefits For some people, looking great in their clothes means they have to lose a few pounds in order to feel comfortable. With ultrasonic liposuction, you can lose those extra layers of insulation and begin to enjoy a new body. In addition, shopping for clothing will be easier and you won’t have to feel self-conscious about how you look in a short dress, bathing suit, or skimpy t-shirt. Furthermore, you may even experience a boost in self-esteem since you are more confident about your body.

Finding a doctor You don’t want to trust your body to just anyone. So that’s why you need to make sure you seek a professional physician to handle your ultrasonic liposuction. This procedure needs to be done by someone with very capable hands. If something goes wrong you want to know you’re in good hands. Also, working with a professional can help ensure you get the results you want. Furthermore, be sure your physician is certified to do the procedure and also has had at least a few years of experience with doing this type of fat removal. Once you do, you’ll have the peace of mind you want.

Recovery Bruising, swelling and numbness are common when trying to recover from ultrasonic liposuction. Also, it’s essential that you follow all of your doctor’s instructions when trying to heal. You want to be sure to take it easy and avoid any strenuous work or exercise right after the procedure. And if you had to get stitches, you want to be extra careful.

Risks As with any medical procedure, you want to be in optimal health before getting anything done. When it comes to ultrasonic liposuction, there are a few risk factors that should be considered. Some people experience excess bleeding, a negative reaction to anesthesia, swelling, bruising and more. In addition, it’s possible to get blood clots as well as nerve damage. While rare, these side effects are possible, so it’s vital that you understand these possibilities before getting this procedure.

Find a Hospital for Your Needs

When it comes time to find a hospital, there is a variety of factors to keep in mind as you begin this search. Hospitals are not all the same. Some are better than others based on mortality rates while others have very specific services that you may be interested in. In many cases of emergency, there is no doubt that the closest hospital to you is the one to get to. In these cases, you may not have a choice as to which facility you need to be taken to. However, there are facilities available to you to choose from for those instances when you do have more time. It is in these that you want to take your time to find the best facility for your particular needs.

The first step in finding the right facility for your health need is to know what your health needs are. A visit to your family doctor may be in order. If you are ill and need immediate help, visiting any hospital is acceptable. For those who may have an illness, disease or injury that is not immediately necessary to treat, take the time to discuss your options in facilities with your doctor and your family. There are several specific areas to focus on when considering these facilities.

The first thing to take into consideration is specialty. While most hospitals treat most conditions, there are instances when one hospital is simply better at treating a certain illness or condition than another hospital. For example, some hospitals specialize in the treatment of cancer, heart health or vision. By visiting one of these facilities, you are getting the best physicians in the region in that area. You may also be getting some of the best treatment options with advanced science. It is because of these factors that you may wish to consider a facility that is not close by to you.

If you wish to find a hospital by specialty like this a bit of research is often necessary. It takes just a few minutes to narrow down your options. For those with a condition that is untreatable or one that requires a very specific specialist to complete, take a closer look at the facility and the doctors within it that offer these treatments. In many cases, you may wish to target a specific doctor for the treatment that he has developed or the skill he has. You can often do this especially in situations where you need specialized help.

Beyond these factors, there are others to take into consideration when it comes to finding the right facility. Location is important to most people. Having a facility nearby means that treatments are easier to obtain. Another factor to consider is if the facility accepts the type of insurance you have or what the cost of obtaining service at the facility is compared to what the other facilities charge. In addition to this, you also want to be sure that the facility is well respected as being a quality facility. You can check records of mortality and other elements about the hospital's ability to meet individual's needs.

As you consider all of these factors, focus on your needs first. When you need to find a hospital right away, do so. Do not waste time worrying about what the facility has to offer and if one is better than another. In the United States, most of these facilities are top of the line. Once you do find a facility that is right for your needs, take the time to learn about the professionals working there. Sometimes, it is more important to have the right doctor.
